Colorado Girls in Sports Day is an event co-sponsored by the Governor's Council, University of Colorado Collegiate Sport Clubs, and the Girl Scouts. The event is designed to promote lifelong physical activity in girls through sports, and coincides with the National Girls and Women in Sports Day that has been held annually for the past 18 years, in the first week of February.
Girls in grades 1-6 learn new sports and physical activity skills in an entertaining and non-threatening environment. Participants leave the event feeling good about having strong and fit bodies and improved self-confidence. For a small fee, each girl receives three hours of skill guidance from college athletes and coaches, refreshments, a souvenir T-shirt, and a finisher's certificate.
